A juror in Carolina is sentenced to prison for declining to use a mask

A left-leaning judge in North Carolina ordered a man to put on a mask in court, and the guy refused. Despite the fact that there are no such local regulations in place, the man was placed in jail for 24 hours.

Gregory Hahn said this during an episode of “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Fox News. “I never believed I would be called up for jury service and wind up in prison,” Hahn said.

According to WRAL, Hahn, a veteran of the United States Navy who is 47 years old and a single parent, was one of 98 jury candidates summoned to the Harnett County court on Monday who showed up without wearing a mask.

Masks weren’t required to be worn at the courthouse, but Judge Charles Gilchrist, who was appointed to his position by the Democratic governor who served before Bev Perdue, insisted that everyone in his courtroom put them on.

When Hahn continued to defy the judge’s orders, the magistrate ordered his arrest and put him in prison for contempt of court.

Hahn is a single parent and a veteran of the United States Navy.

“It was the most difficult day and night of my whole life. He told Carlson, “I tried to contact my little kid who is at home, but they wouldn’t let me make the call.”
