In the letter that was written and sent out by Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Robert Latta, as well as Gus Bilirakis, the signatories express their concern regarding what they believe to be an attempt by the White House to exert pressure on the social media platforms owned by Big Tech in order to censor or silence opponents.

The 3 Republicans want Vice President Biden to hand over information pertaining to those meetings and contacts so that more light may be put on the very contentious practice. In addition to this, they highlight the fact that Facebook and Twitter are both privately held enterprises.

A federal judge already has issued an order requiring the White House to disclose emails that were sent to both Twitter and Facebook by a number of high-ranking top officials and federal agencies. These individuals include the press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, and the chief medical adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

The order from the judge was issued as part of the ongoing legal proceedings that were initiated by Eric Schmitt or Jeff Landry, who are the attorneys general for the states of Missouri and Louisiana, respectively. They filed a lawsuit against the government, accusing it of conspiring with the two technology companies to censor speech.

The White House is given till September 25 to abide by the court order. In the meanwhile, the 3 members of Congress have set Sept 25th. as the time for Biden to answer to the requirements that were put out in their letter.
