Throughout the years, Democrats have maintained the position that they are the political party that is the most hospitable to illegal immigrants. In cities that they have controlled, Democrats have created “sanctuaries” for illegal immigrants while avoiding collaboration with governmental immigration officials.
But that was then, and this is now: After almost 2 years of living through a migrant and opioid epidemic, Republican leaders in border states are now sharing the agony and putting Democratic leaders’ promises that “we welcome immigration” to the test.
And the Democratic Party’s leaders continue to struggle.
After Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) decided to fly a group of approximately 50 migrants to the ultra-wealthy and ultra-liberal community of Martha’s Vineyard late last month, the Democrats who operate the group got rid of them by less than 48 hours by busing them off to a neighboring National Guard base. This outraged the community leaders of Martha’s Vineyard, who run the community. And now, another major Democrat hypocrite, Mayor Eric Adams of New York City, has been brought to light for his hypocrisy.
In the course of the previous several months, Republican governors of Texas and Arizona have been sending thousands of undocumented immigrants by bus to the Big Apple. Now, the so-called “welcoming sanctuary city” has had enough of this practice and has taken action: Late in the previous week, Mayor Eric Adams proclaimed a “state of emergency” and immediately started pleading for aid from the federal government.
According to a report that was published by Axios in advance of the weekend, Adams stated that at least 17,000 refugees and migrants have been shuttled to New York from those other areas of the country as of April. Adams also claimed that a large number of people didn’t know where they had been going when they hopped the buses. (By the way, it is a lie – Abbott, Ducey, plus DeSantis have all provided evidence that the migrants are aware of where they are heading and volunteer to go on the buses.)
“Texas is providing charter buses to transport illegal immigrants who are dropped off by the Biden government to Washington, D.C. in an effort to assist local officials whose towns are being overrun by hordes of illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration. “We are bringing them to the United States Capitol in which the Biden regime will be ready to more promptly meet the needs of individuals they are permitting to come over our border,” Abbott said. “We are taking them to the United States Capitol.”
“In order for a migrant to board a bus or airplane, they must first volunteer to also be transported and then provide paperwork from the DHS. In a news release, it was stated that mayors and county judges have the ability to alert TDEM of every DHS-facilitated drop-off of migrants within their areas. This will allow the agency to arrange proper transportation for the migrants.
Thus for Adams, he not only went into a panic, but he also blamed Abbott and other Republican governors for the issue, rather than Joe Biden, whose policies of keeping the borders open led to the situation in the first place.
“This is a humanitarian catastrophe that began with instability and violence in South And Central America, and is being hastened by the political dynamics in the United States,” Adams said. “This is a humanitarian disaster that originated in South America.” “The vast majority were adults, who are not permitted by law to find employment in our nation.” The majority are families with children who are of school age. A few of them are in severe need of immediate medical attention.
“This is not anything that we have requested. There wasn’t any consensus reached to take on the task of providing assistance to thousands of people seeking refuge. As the buses started to arrive, this obligation was abruptly turned over to us without any prior notice,” he went on to say. “We are going to do what needs to be done in Nyc, but we do need support to cope with this catastrophe that we are experiencing,” she said. “We are going to do what we must do in New York.”
Actually, the actual catastrophe is happening along the border between the United States and Mexico; Texas & Arizona are seeing the worst of it, although New Mexico & California are also witnessing an increase in the number of people crossing the border.
Regarding his own actions, Abbott is not making any requests of the Biden administration.
Abbott said that there is no need for any more funds at this time in order to accomplish what is currently being discussed. “The cost of securing the border is not insignificant. It would not cost the state of Texas anything to secure the border if the federal government did its job, but because Biden is not protecting the border, the state of Texas has been forced to step up and spend money that was contributed by taxpayers in Texas in order to do the job that the federal government is supposed to be doing.
While all is going on, Adams is continuing to be a huge hypocrite.
