Recently, President Joe Biden voiced his support for transgender children undergoing surgery, saying to online media that he believes the efforts being taken by some states to prevent children from obtaining irreversible surgeries are “immoral” and “outrageous.” Biden’s comments came in response to a question about whether or not transgender children should be allowed to undergo surgery.
The subject was brought up during a conversation between Biden and Dylan Mulvaney, a TikTok celebrity and transgender activist who is 25 years old. In the opening statement of the interview, Mulvaney informed the president he was presently on the 221st day of openly transitioning, to which the president replied, “God loves you.” Biden’s response was similar. In the section, which was broadcasted by the progressive media organization Now This News, Mulvaney questioned Biden if he believes that states should have the authority to start regulating sex-change operations as well as other forms of so-called “gender-affirming healthcare,” such as hormone blockers, for kids. In response, Biden said, “I don’t believe any state or even any individual should have the power to do this as a moral concern.” In terms of the law, I just believe that it is unethical.
He continued by saying, “I believe very firmly that you ought to have every single right, including the use of the gender identification restrooms, but in public.”
At this time, a number of states have already enacted restrictions on a variety of sex transition procedures that can be performed on children. In addition, a number of other states are currently considering the enactment of laws that can prevent children from endangering their health by undergoing significant procedures or interventions like puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and risky sex change surgeries. Unfortunately, many of these surgeries may compromise a child’s capacity to have children in the future; some children endure issues for the rest of their lives as a result of these procedures, such as difficulty urinating.
It’s disheartening, but not unexpected, that while Biden believes young individuals should be able to mutilate his\her genitalia as well as render themselves sterile if they so decide, he is unwilling to extend the very same liberty over personal health choices to individuals who do not wish to place their lives in jeopardy with risky inoculations.
