The Russian Ministry of Defense has asserted that Ukraine was responsible for the launch of a missile that struck Polish soil on Tuesday night.

Moscow claims that it came to this decision after analyzing photographs that were taken at the location.

According to the authorities in Poland, two persons were killed when the weapon that had fallen in the vicinity of Przewodow hit the ground. According to a report by the Russian Ministry of Defense, its specialists examined photographs of the component pieces of the projectile that were distributed by various media sources and “recognized them as sections of a rocket from the S-300 missile defense system operated by Air Force of Ukraine.”

The ministry also said that Russian planes and ships carried out “massive” attacks against Ukrainian command centers as well as energy facilities on the same day. According to a statement released by the Ukrainian government on Wednesday, “the high-precision attacks were carried out solely against locations on Ukrainian territory but no closer than 35 km (21.7 miles) out from the Ukrainian-Polish border.”

Both Ukraine and Russia utilize the S-300 missile defense system, which was created in the Soviet Union and has subsequently been upgraded to the S-400 and S-500 variants by Russia.

Shortly after the event, the Ukrainian President made the accusation that Russia had carried out an attack on Polish territory. In the meanwhile, Polish Prez Andrzej Duda said that the missile was “most certainly” manufactured in Russia, although he did not specify who was responsible for launching it.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, used the word “hysterical” to characterize the response to the missile incident.

According to what Peskov said to the press on Wednesday, high-ranking officials from a variety of nations have made remarks despite lacking any clear information about what has transpired. “Such a brash response once again indicates that one must never be hasty with judgments and words that might aggravate the situation,” the speaker said.
