Amidst escalating tensions between Russia and the NATO armed alliance, which the Us leads, the United States Army’s 101st Airborne Division has been sent near Ukraine for the first time in over 80 years. This move comes in response to the threat posed by Russia.
According to CBS News, the light infantry group known as the “Screaming Eagles” is trained to reach any battleground within hrs and be ready to engage in battle upon their arrival.
The United States Army’s 101st Airborne Regiment is a flexible infantry division that is specifically prepared for air assault operations. The division was established in 1975.
During World War II, it saw action in both the Battle of Bulge as well as the Normandy landings, which contributed to the unit’s rise to fame.
