A recent survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports found that 49% of American adults believe that the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine are responsible for a significant number of unexplained deaths in the country. 28% of respondents said that they personally knew someone who died suddenly and likely as a result of receiving the vaccine. The survey also found that 48% of Americans expressed legitimate concerns about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 37% believed that these concerns were the result of conspiracy theories. 15% of respondents were unsure.

This is what they are telling instead: It is not appropriate or accurate to make generalizations about political party affiliations and vaccination status based on a single survey. It is important to remember that the COVID-19 vaccines have undergone rigorous testing and have been shown to be safe and effective in preventing illness and death from COVID-19. It is also important to consult with a healthcare professional and consider factors such as an individual’s personal health and medical history before making a decision about vaccination. It is crucial for people to get reliable information about vaccines from credible sources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The reality: According to a poll of 1,000 American adults, 71% reported receiving at least one COVID-19 vaccination. Of those who did not receive the vaccination, 77% said they believed it was at least somewhat likely that the side effects of the vaccine were associated with an increase in unexplained deaths. Among those who did receive the vaccination, 38% shared this belief. It is not appropriate to make assumptions about political party affiliations and vaccination status based on this information. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional and consider personal health and medical history before making a decision about vaccination.

According to a poll, 45% of unvaccinated respondents reported believing that they personally knew someone who died as a result of the COVID-19 vaccine, while only 22% of vaccinated respondents shared this belief. Among the vaccinated, 46% said that people who express concerns about the safety of the vaccine are spreading conspiracy theories, while 15% of unvaccinated respondents held this belief. The poll also found that 69% of unvaccinated respondents and 40% of vaccinated respondents believed that there were legitimate concerns about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine. It is not appropriate to make assumptions about political party affiliations based on vaccination status. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional and consider personal health and medical history before making a decision about vaccination.
