A former student at Cardinal Carter Catholic High School in Aurora, Ontario, Myles Vosylius, gave a moving speech at a recent York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) meeting, promoting the teachings of the Catholic Church and opposing the display of pro-LGBT flags in schools during June’s “Pride Month”. He described how “sin was rampant” in his high school and how his conversion occurred when he began to adore the Blessed Sacrament. He shouted out “I love you, Jesus,” and was overcome with a divine presence that touched the depths of his soul. This experience led him to a path of truth, belief in Jesus Christ, and the healing of his own sinfulness.

The Harm of Pro-LGBT Symbols in Schools

Vosylius’s main point was that many students suffer from their own wounds, such as divorce, separation, addiction, mental or physical illness, or confusion in personal identity like gender and sex. He argued that pro-LGBT symbols like pride flags, stickers, or any political and sexual ideological symbol cannot heal and bring hope into the lives of YCDSB students. Instead, they will only arouse greater confusion, pain, and darkness.

He emphasized that LGBT stickers, pride flags, and other similar symbols do not accurately represent the love that God has for individuals who identify within the LGBT community.
