The head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, has called for the implementation of a carbon tax as a means of incentivizing climate change action. She emphasizes penalizing the public through this tax, directing funds to global organizations dedicated to combating climate change.

During her address at the United Nations Cop28 summit in Dubai, Georgieva stressed the necessity for Western nations to adopt new carbon taxes. She suggests that these taxes are a way to address the perceived involvement of citizens in the “climate crisis.” This move, according to her, aligns with plans to significantly reduce the standard of living in Western countries to achieve UN Agenda 2030 and sustainable development goals (SDGs).

In his opening speech at the summit, King Charles acknowledged the substantial cost– running into trillions of dollars annually– that would be incurred in achieving the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) net zero objectives, a point also covered by The People’s Voice. He proposed that taxpayers in developed nations should contribute approximately $5 trillion yearly to fulfill Klaus Schwab’s vision.

Georgieva supported this approach by emphasizing the importance of imposing penalties on individuals for their unavoidable “carbon footprint” as a significant incentive for decarbonization. She advocated for escalating carbon prices substantially, asserting that this elevation is necessary to accelerate the process of decarbonization.

Moreover, the IMF chief highlighted the financial benefits of carbon taxes, stating that they would generate revenues for global institutions like the United Nations and World Economic Forum. She reiterated the IMF’s strong support for carbon pricing as a mechanism to achieve these goals.
