Defiance Persists: Border Patrol Affirms Texas Razor Wire Barriers to Stay

In a firm stance against the desires of the Biden Administration, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials assert that Border Patrol agents will not dismantle the razor wire barriers strategically placed along certain border sections by the Texas National Guard.

Strong Relationship Despite Dispute
According to a high-ranking CBP official, the relationship with the Guard remains robust despite the ongoing legal dispute. The official emphasized, “While this issue plays out in the courts, the relationship between Border Patrol, Texas DPS , & TMD Texas Military Dept. remains strong.” The focus, the official added, is unwaveringly on the mission of safeguarding the nation and its people.

No Plans for Removal
Addressing concerns, the CBP official clarified, “On the ground, we continue to work alongside these valuable partners in that endeavor.” Furthermore, the official affirmed, “Bottom line: Border Patrol has no plans to remove infrastructure (c-wire) placed by Texas along the border.” The posture of the Border Patrol remains consistent, with the commitment to accessing areas for emergency response when needed, while ensuring coordination with Texas DPS & TMD.

Union Support and Clarification
The Border Patrol Union echoed this sentiment, releasing a statement asserting that agents will not impede Texas National Guard members engaged in “lawful” operations. The statement emphasized the collaborative relationship, stating, “TX NG and rank-and-file BP agents work together and respect each other’s jobs. Period.” It clarified that if Texas National Guard members have lawful orders, they must carry them out. The union expressed appreciation for Texas’s efforts to defend the state and emphasized that there is no conflict between rank-and-file BP agents and the Texas National Guard, Governor Abbott, or Texas DPS.

Texas Preparedness and Nationwide Support
Texas Governor Greg Abbott, in a conversation with Tucker Carlson, affirmed that the state is “prepared” for conflict with the federal government. Notably, twenty-five states, including Oklahoma, have expressed support for Texas. Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma emphasized the right to defend the country against invasion, with ten states deploying their National Guard to Texas in solidarity.

In a landscape marked by legal battles and growing tension, the commitment of Border Patrol agents to maintaining the existing infrastructure underscores the complexities surrounding border security and the interplay beteen federal and state authorities.
