Xi Van Fleet, a survivor of Mao Zedong’s Cultural Revolution in China, has come forward to express her concerns about the current political climate in the United States. She warns that the very oppression and tyranny that she fled from in China may be taking hold in America.
In a series of tweets, Van Fleet compared today’s Democrats to Mao, citing examples from Chinese history that serve as cautionary tales for the present.
Liu Shaoqi, former president of the People’s Republic of China, laid the tyrannical groundwork for Mao’s Cultural Revolution. When surrounded by Red Guard mobs, he tried to reason with them, asking, “I am at least a citizen. Why am I not allowed to speak?” Prior to this, Liu himself persecuted countless people, ruining or ending their lives. By the time Mao came along, Liu had become a victim of the very tyranny that he helped create.
Van Fleet warns that the Leftists are “so committed to the destruction of the rule of law & our Constitution” that they need to prepare to be victims of their own lawlessness one day. She believes that those who oppress God’s children will one day become the subjects of their own tyranny. She also warns that the world’s largest surveillance state is being built, and a global genocide is being planned by the Democrats.
Van Fleet’s experience as a survivor of Mao’s regime has given her a unique perspective on the political landscape of America. She arrived in the country 35 years ago, grateful for the opportunity to start a new life. However, she now sees America she arrived in as being under attack by Marxism/Communism, which she thought she had escaped from. She feels compelled to fight to save America.
Throughout history, there is a pattern of wicked people who eventually become the recipients of the very wickedness they sought to inflict on others. The biblical book of Esther tells the story of Haman, who plotted to destroy the Jews of Persia but ended up being executed on the gallows he built for Mordecai and the rest of the Jews. Van Fleet believes that today’s Democrats should consider these cautionary tales as they continue down their dangerous path.
